Munich, December 20, 2023 – 60 years ago, Professor Georg Nemetschek founded an engineering office in Munich – the beginning of a long success story. The most important consistency in the history of the today globally active Group is the leveraging of the potential of new technologies for the benefit of all those involved in the construction and media industries.

In 1963, when the then 29-year-old engineer Georg Nemetschek founded an “engineering office for the construction industry” in Munich, nobody could have imagined the beginning of a successful company history that would last for decades. The engineering office at that time was specialized in structural engineering, from design to calculation and construction of load-bearing systems in industrial, prefabricated, office, residential and bridge construction. Inspired and motivated by the economic miracle (German: “Wirtschaftswunder”) and construction boom of the 1960s, Georg Nemetschek paved the way for innovative information technology in architecture and construction with the founding of the company. Even at that time, the pioneer was fascinated by and convinced of the usage of modern technology to make the design, construction and management of buildings and infrastructure projects more efficiently, sustainably, and qualitative. Already back then, Professor Georg Nemetschek himself and the Nemetschek Group, which he founded, have been committed to drive the digitalization of the construction industry.

From an Engineering Office to a Global Player

Today, the Nemetschek Group with its strong brands is successfully continuing the philosophy of its founding father. The former engineering office has developed into a major global player. As one of the world's leading software companies, the Nemetschek Group offers innovative solutions for the entire life cycle of buildings and for the media industry - and is the second-largest software provider in Germany in terms of market capitalization and one of the top software players in Europe. With over 3,600 employees in 80 locations worldwide, the MDAX-listed Group generated revenue of over 800 million euros in 2022 with solutions used by more than seven million users.

At the 60th anniversary ceremony, which was celebrated in December together with companions from industry and science, Yves Padrines, CEO of the Nemetschek Group, looked to the future: “The vision of our company is closely linked to the pioneering spirit of Professor Nemetschek. We are convinced that new technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, cloud solutions, robotics and virtual reality will help us master the challenges in the construction and media industries.”

The Nemetschek Group invests heavily in innovative and disruptive technologies. In 2023, for example, new cloud offerings were developed and the first data-based cloud platform dTwin was launched.
