The Archicad-Autodesk Forma Connection lets designers securely exchange design data in native formats, allowing confident collaboration in the Archicad environment they trust.

BUDAPEST, June 2, 2026 — Graphisoft, part of the Nemetschek Group and a leading developer of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software solutions for architecture and multidisciplinary design, will take to the stage at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design in San Diego (June 11-12) to introduce the next phase of its Design Intelligence Strategy and the Archicad-Autodesk Forma Connection to U.S. audiences.

As announced on May 13, the Nemetschek Group is bringing key components together into a single, cloud-native platform that spans from feasibility studies to detailed BIM and lifecycle collaboration. As a core driver of innovation in this initiative, Graphisoft continues to advance intuitive, datadriven design experiences for architects and engineers.

Advancing open collaboration across the AEC ecosystem

Research shows that over 92% of construction projects experience significant delays and budget changes, resulting in US$2.1 trillion (€1.8 trillion) in annual losses globally.

To help eliminate roadblocks and cost overruns caused by broken handovers, misalignment, and miscommunication across AEC projects, Graphisoft has announced a Nemetschek Group-level initiative to be developed as the open collaboration fabric of the Nemetschek design ecosystem. It is intended to keep models, documents, issues, and decisions in sync across teams working with Graphisoft solutions and the broader Nemetschek portfolio, while minimizing collaboration friction and supporting widely used industry formats such as IFC, BCF, PDF, DWG, and RVT.

“The entire AEC industry has been missing an open collaboration layer, and this is a truly trustworthy, accessible alternative,” said Sylwester Pawluk, VP, Product Management – Collaboration, Graphisoft and Nemetschek Group. “Our solution will offer a browser-based, multidisciplinary collaboration environment that brings architects, engineers, builders, owners, and operators into a common source of truth.” Early access is planned for 2026.

Previewing AI-assisted design capabilities

Also in development is a next-generation, web-based design intelligence platform that uses AI and integrated simulations to help teams make better decisions during the design process. Users will be able to explore hundreds of massing, layout, and performance scenarios and optimize them against project goals and constraints in seconds, while keeping stakeholders aligned in a shared, browser-based workspace—without requiring BIM expertise. Developed by Graphisoft and scaled across the Nemetschek Group, this AI-assisted design solution plans to launch early access in October. Introducing the Archicad-Autodesk Forma Connection

As part of Nemetschek Group’s broader open collaboration strategy and available in an upcoming Archicad update, the Archicad-Autodesk Forma Connection is designed to reduce the friction many users face when joining projects that require Autodesk Forma workflows. Manual workarounds can slow teams down, create frustration, and put projects at risk.

The new built-in Archicad add-on will let users securely exchange design models, documents, and project information from within Archicad to Autodesk Forma Data Management in native formats, helping teams stay in their preferred design environment while participating in Forma-based collaboration.

“The Archicad-Autodesk Forma Connection reflects the Nemetschek Group’s and Graphisoft’s broader commitment to open collaboration and customer choice,” said Márton Kiss, Chief Product Officer, Graphisoft. “The integration allows firms to work more seamlessly across platforms while remaining in their preferred design environment,” he added. Key benefits include:

  • Reduced workflow friction across platforms
  • More seamless multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Native, secure exchange of project information

Accelerating AI in the AEC industry

Graphisoft’s broader AI portfolio, including AI Assistant, AI Visualizer, and upcoming services built on a common platform, continues to evolve as a core pillar of the Design Intelligence Strategy. For more information about Graphisoft’s AI solutions, click here.

In 2026, the Nemetschek Group and Graphisoft plan to further expand these AI offerings, along with a coordinated update to its product ecosystem in early October. Anchored by Archicad, BIMx, BIMcloud, MEP Designer, and DDScad, this ecosystem is designed to provide seamless, open, and datadriven workflows from early feasibility to detailed BIM and beyond.
